The final defense for the 10th Shanghai Jiao Tong University Graduate Student Academic Star Award was held on December 18, 2025,  at the Student Center's Auditorium on the Minhang Campus. After on-site evaluation, ten Academic Star Awards and ten Academic Star Nominees Awards were selected. Shitao GENG, PhD student enrolled in 2022, from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, won the 10^th SJTU Academic Star Award.

Innovation and Transformation

Shitao GENG, supervised by Associate Professor Hao SUN at the Frontiers Science Center for Transformative Moleculars, focuses on low-cost and sustainable transformative sulfur–chlorine battery systems. He has published more than 18 research articles in leading journals in chemistry and materials science, including six papers as first or co-first author in Nature, Nature Communications, Advanced Energy Materials, and Advanced Functional Materials. He also holds two granted Chinese invention patents.

Awardee Statement

I am deeply honored to receive the title Academic Star. This recognition stems from Prof. Hao SUN’s mentorship in innovative research approaches, as well as the strong support provided by the school and the Center. Innovation is never an easy path, and meaningful breakthroughs require perseverance. Motivated by this honor, I will continue to advance molecular science frontiers  with sustained dedication, and pursue my research goals with the spirit of breakthrough and transformation.

The Academic Star Award represents SJTU’s highest academic honor for graduate students. It aligns with the guiding principles of the National Education Conference, advances the “Learning at SJTU” initiative, and foster a positive academic environment.
